WELCOME to the official webpage of the SCI Breast Cancer and African Americans (BCAA) Conference hosted by the Stanford Cancer Institute's Office of Cancer Health Equity!! The conference theme is "Helping Communities Better Help Themselves" by providing culturally-tailored Education that will Empower individuals to create meaningful and sustainable Change in their overall health and wellbeing.

Despite the advancements in breast cancer research, it remains a concerning reality that Black women in the United States are disproportionately affected by the disease, often being diagnosed at younger ages, in later stages, and with more aggressive forms of breast cancer, leading to higher mortality rates. The SCI BCAA Conference is dedicated to addressing and reducing these disparities within the Black/African American communities in the Greater San Francisco Bay Area and its neighboring counties. By providing culturally relevant, high-quality, and timely cancer information and education, BCAA aims to bridge the gap and ensure equitable access to essential resources and support for those impacted by breast cancer in these underserved populations.

This event is especially for Black/African American women age 18 and older—whether you're currently in treatment, a survivor, or simply looking to learn and connect, you belong here. We also warmly welcome those whom are family members, caregivers, friends, community advocates, healthcare professionals, researchers, clinicians, and faith-based leaders to join us. No matter your background or role, you’re invited to be part of this powerful and impactful gathering. This event aims to create a space where individuals from diverse backgrounds can come together to share knowledge, provide support, and foster collaboration in the realm of health and wellness within the Black/African American community.
