Mark Kunerth

For twenty-five years, Mark made his living making people laugh, writing for television shows including Friends, About A Boy, Speechless and Showtime’s The Big C.

Alongside his writing career, he was also the husband and caregiver of his wife, Sky, after she was diagnosed with glioblastoma, a brain cancer with a typical survival window of twelve to eighteen months. Sky lived an extraordinary sixteen years through three brain surgeries, hundreds of rounds of chemotherapy and more laughter than either of them could count.

Mark is the author of the forthcoming memoir One More Lap: A Story of Love, Impossible Odds, Bad Jokes and Showing Up. He now speaks about caregiving, grief and what happens when life stops following the script, exploring how we keep moving when we can’t control what comes next and how sometimes the next good decision is enough to begin writing a different story.

Michelle Mathai

Michelle is a Certified Coach, specializing in grief and mindset work. She explores how our deepest emotions can be our greatest enemies and allies.

She was inspired to become a coach by caregiving for her only sibling and older brother, afflicted with brain cancer. He survived for close to 20 years, but the real lessons emerged during his 8 months in hospice, where she lost her brother, but recognized the beauty in the intimate connection of caregiving.
