Robert Sims is the recipient of the Living Heritage Foundation Lifetime Achievement Award and the Friends of Negro Spirituals Heritage Keeper’s Award. He is comfortable with a wide range of musical offerings, from Spirituals to Broadway, to Opera and more.
The May 18 program will include Religious, Underground Spirituals, Life Cycle of Christ, Broadway Songs, Copeland Old American Songs and Spiritual of Jubilation.
Sims will be accompanied by Chi-Yin Chen on the piano and SAMF Artistic Director Jorge Pena on viola, with an original presentation of "Every Time I Feel the Spirit" by Okpebholo. |
