OpenCPN Seminar OpenCPN is an Open Source software/ Chart Plotter-Navigator program that uses free up-to-date NOAA charts. These load onto your computer or laptop (unfortunately no iPads) and allow you to see all the charts for the area you plan to travel. You can use this tool to create waypoints and routes prior to a cruise from the convenience of our home. Many of our cruise captains use this tool for pre-planning squadron trips. This seminar will show you how to create waypoints and then connect them into routes. You then will be shown how to download the waypoints and/or route to the GPS chartplotter in your boat. This year we are holding the seminar in conjunction with our Marine Navigation class but you do not need to be registered in that class to attend. Also, please download the OpenCPN program and the local charts in advance of the seminar. Once registered instructions on how to do this will be provided. Cost of the seminar is $10. If you are registered in Marine navigation there is no cost. Any questions contact squadron ASEO Dennis Cusanelli at 912-659-2380
