Session #2 Age of Loss and Stages of Emotional Development

This is the 2nd of 8 sessions in which we will discuss your age of loss and stage of emotional development. There is a basic formula that lends insight into how we function as adults and how our mother's death influences who we are today. It is your + Age of loss + Stage of Emotional Development + The ability of your caretaker or support system to allow us to grieve your loss = Long-term Adult adaptability. In other words, we need to know how emotionally balanced, centered, and adaptable we are as adults. Today, we are exploring the 0-6 age of loss and the effects on you as an adult.

Did you know that women who have experienced mother loss at ages 0-6 EXPECT to be abandoned? This can keep relationships at a distance. It can keep them from fully connecting to others in a meaningful way. “I know they will leave me too, so why try?”  Some have even played the game of “I will leave you first because I know you are going to leave me.”

This is the first of eight sessions in which we will discuss your age of loss and stage of emotional development.
