Practicing Hope and Resiliency in Tough Times: Sharing our Stories

Hope and resiliency abide in each of us as people of faith and Daughters of the King. We are living through tough times. But tapping into our past experiences—learning to practice what we already know and can learn from one another—is the key to surviving and thriving. Whatever challenges you may face, your own stories can remind you of how to endure in faith.
Join us for an interactive online Spring Assembly including worship and an engaging art workshop with breakout groups, led by special guest Karen Gonzalez-Torres, a professional facilitator trained by A Window Between Worlds.

“The Story Trees: Practicing Hope and Resiliency in Tough Times”

This interactive workshop invites participants to explore their personal stories of resilience and faith through an expressive arts activity called The Story Trees. Using simple materials, we will reflect on how our experiences shape our journey and strength. No art experience is required—just a willingness to engage in a meaningful and supportive space.

Karen Gonzalez-Torres is a trauma-informed educator, advocate, and healing art leader dedicated to empowering survivors through creative expression. As the founder of Helping Hands Resource Center and Nurturing Lives, she integrates art-based healing with education and advocacy to support resilience and recovery.

A survivor herself, Karen holds multiple certifications in trauma-informed care and is an author of workbooks and journals that inspire healing and growth. Her mission is to create safe, nurturing spaces where individuals can heal through hope, love, faith, and creativity.
