Rural Minds: Mental Health Challenges

Compared with their urban counterparts, rural Americans have higher depression and suicide rates, but are less likely to access mental health care services. Rural Minds will provide an overview of their work in response to confronting the mental health challenges in rural America. These include having to travel a greater distance to fewer healthcare providers and broadband internet that can be unreliable or unavailable for telehealth. In addition, there are lifestyle challenges with greater stigma around mental illness and an independent mindset that can be a barrier to getting help.
