Join United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley and Resilient Lehigh Valley for a 6-month training series designed to strengthen skills, deepen trauma-informed practice, and support meaningful collaboration across our community. Each session may be taken individually or as part of the full series, giving participants the flexibility to engage in the way that works best for them.

This training is free, but registration is required.


Please note that capacity is limited. If three or more individuals from your organization are interested in participating, we also offer organizational trainings upon request. To schedule a session for your team, visit our training request website.


Each training will include a 30-minute networking opportunity immediately following the session.



Training Schedule and Descriptions


Becoming a Trauma-Informed Organization (For clients and employees)

Thursday, January 29 | 9 - 11:30 a.m.

United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley, Allentown

This 2.5-hour course explores the prevalence and impact of traumatic experiences. Participants will learn the continuum of trauma-informed, trauma-sensitive, and trauma-responsive care. The session includes a discussion on re-traumatization and how helping organizations can avoid it. Attendees will also learn evidence-based practices to mitigate the effects of trauma and build resilience.


Trauma 101: From Hope to Resilience

Wednesday, February 25 | 9 - 11:30 a.m.

United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley, Allentown

This 2.5-hour training is taught from a hope-instilling and resilience-building perspective. Participants will review definitions for ACEs, PCEs, toxic stress, and resilience. The training explores the latest research on the lifelong health implications of trauma and toxic stress, along with tools for building resilience in individuals, families, and communities. Resources to mitigate the impact of trauma will be provided.


Trauma 102: Healing the Brain

Tuesday, March 24 | 9 - 11:30 a.m.

United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley, Allentown

This 2.5-hour training focuses on how trauma impacts the brain and nervous system. Instructors will identify the primary structures of the brain and central nervous system. Participants will learn the effects of trauma and toxic stress on brain functioning and behavior across developmental stages. The session concludes with evidence-based practices that support brain healing.


Trauma-Sensitive De-escalation and Emotional Regulation Techniques

Wednesday, April 22 | 9 - 11:30 a.m.

United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley, Allentown

This 2.5-hour session addresses trauma-sensitive de-escalation strategies for trauma-affected individuals. Participants will review how trauma, ACEs, and toxic stress affect lifelong health and brain functioning. The training covers different brain states, emotional regulation, dysregulation, and practical trauma-sensitive approaches to de-escalation through exercises and demonstrations.


Compassion Resilience

Wednesday, May 27 | 9 - 11:30 a.m.

United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley, Allentown

The Compassion Resilience Toolkit supports organizations, teams, and caregivers in building a culture of well-being and compassion. This 2.5-hour interactive training helps participants develop self-compassion and compassion resilience in both professional and personal settings. Learn tools to maintain empathy, strength, and hope, while preventing compassion fatigue.

Restorative Practices

Part 1: Wednesday, June 10 | 9 - 11:30 a.m.

Part 2: Wednesday, June 24 | 9 - 11:30 a.m.

United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley, Allentown

In this interactive two-part training, participants will learn the foundations of Restorative Practices. Topics include the Social Discipline Window, Fair Process, the Compass of Shame, RP Questions, and how to create and lead restorative circles. These skills help build community, repair harm, and restore relationships.
