You'll learn about fire ecology, using prescribed fire in land management, prescribed burn techniques, safety and PPE, prescribed burn plans, and equipment. Class content will be focused on relatively small prescribed burns commonly conducted in the Upper Midwest for the restoration and management of prairies and savannas, with an emphasis on the use of hand tools.
