Georgia Certified Burn Manager Course

The Southwest Georgia PBA, Georgia Forestry Commission, and The Jones Center at Ichauway present an opportunity for landowners, students, veterans, conservation advocates, and first responders to gain their Georgia Burner Certification. Over a two-day course, Georgia Forestry Commission instructors will educate on subjects such as fire behavior, fire weather, air quality, smoke management and fire tactics. Course includes self-study materials (obtained once RSVP’d), a two-day training session, and a written state exam.

Applicants for certification must pass this exam with a score of 70 or higher, have two years of experience, and meet a prerequisite of having been the person in charge of five prescribed burns before becoming a certified prescribed burner in Georgia. This class is a great way to start becoming a prescribed fire practitioner in the state of Georgia.
