Keynote: The Power of Showing Up

Bestselling author and internationally recognized parenting expert, Dr. Tina Payne Bryson, is known for making the latest brain science accessible to parents, caregivers, and professionals. In her keynote on The Power of Showing Up, she will emphasize the Four S’s—Safe, Seen, Soothed, Secure—and how consistent, nurturing relationships from the perinatal period onward lay the foundation for lifelong resilience, mental health, and success. Dr. Bryson’s work empowers communities to support children and families in practical, everyday ways that have lasting impact.

Dr. Nancy Byatt, DO, MS, MBA

Transforming Perinatal Mental Health Care

Dr. Nancy Byatt is a Tenured Professor at UMass Chan Medical School, perinatal psychiatrist, and physician-scientist focused on improving systems of care to promote the mental health of parents and children. She developed MCPAP for Moms, now a national model for perinatal mental health care. She is the Founding Executive Director of the Lifeline for Families Center and Lifeline for Moms Program at UMass Chan Medical School. Her research uses implementation science methods to design, implement, and evaluate scalable approaches for improving parental and child mental health services and outcomes.

Every baby deserves a bright beginning—and every parent, caregiver, and professional needs the tools to make that possible. The earliest moments in life—beginning in the perinatal period—set the stage for lifelong health, relationships, and success.

When we show up for babies and their families from the very start, we build stronger communities, healthier economies, and a brighter future for all.

“Twenty years of medical research has shown that childhood adversity literally gets under our skin, changing people in ways that can endure in their bodies for decades. It can tip a child’s developmental trajectory and affect physiology. It can trigger chronic inflammation and hormonal changes that can last a lifetime. It can alter the way DNA is read and how cells replicate, and it can dramatically increase the risk for heart disease, stroke, cancer, diabetes – even Alzheimer’s.
