| Community and non-profit leaders are working at the front lines of human need—often in environments shaped by adversity, stress, and limited resources. While trauma is frequently discussed in healthcare or mental health settings, its impact extends far beyond clinical spaces. Trauma influences how people show up at work, engage with services, respond to authority, and build trust within organizations and communities.
This three-hour interactive training introduces trauma-informed leadership in a way that is practical, accessible, and immediately applicable for non-profit executives, program managers, community organizers, educators, and service leaders. Rather than focusing on medical models or clinical treatment, this session emphasizes real-world application, leadership behaviors, and system-level strategies that support both the people you serve and the teams you lead. Participants will learn how trauma shows up in organizations, how leadership behaviors can either reduce or amplify harm, and how trauma-informed approaches strengthen engagement, retention, collaboration, and long-term impact.
By the end of this training, participants will be able to:
- Recognize how trauma and chronic stress influence behavior, communication, and decision-making
- Apply trauma-informed principles in leadership, supervision, and community engagement
- Strengthen emotional intelligence and psychological safety within teams and partnerships
- Use practical tools and language to responAd effectively to challenging situations
- Identify concrete next steps to embed trauma-informed practices into organizational culture
This is an in-person workshop in Springfield.
