Have you or your customers have question about how DNA works with genealogy? Have you wondered what testing site is best? Have you had to look up what mitochondrial DNA, haplolog groups, centimorgans and thrulines mean? Join us on May 8th as Alana Masters answers these questions and more.

Interest Group Facilitator: Kristi Dorney

Kristi has a BS in Social Studies Education and a MLIS from Florida State University. She worked in public school media centers before joining the Jacksonville Public Library in July 2000. She has a background in youth services, adult services and branch management. She transferred to the Special Collections Department in August 2022 to be the Genealogy specialist. Kristi is a member of the National Genealogical Society, New England Historic Genealogical Society, Florida Genealogical Society, and The Irish Ancestral Research Association (TIARA). She began her family tree in the mid 1980’s when she and her mother visited the University of Florida Library to view the 1850 census of her Great-Great Grandparents. She has worked on it off and on ever since and still has those darn brick walls! Kristi has traveled to several states and Ireland to work on her family tree. One day she hopes to visit the Family History Library in Salt Lake City. She enjoys helping others begin researching their family trees.
