Dr. Harry W.F. Dressel Jr.
The Dr. Harry W.F. Dressel Jr. Memorial Lecture honors Dr. Dressel, who graduated from the UMSOD in 1945. Dr. Dressel started his career in the Navy as a dental officer. After his tour of duty, he earned a certificate in Periodontology from New York University and then opened and ran a private dental practice in Catonsville, Maryland for 40 years.
Dr. Dressel was a member of the American and International Colleges of Dentistry, the American Dental Association and served on a number of committees in these organizations. He also served as the President of the Baltimore City Dental Society. Dr. Dressel worked as a faculty member at UMSOD, as well as participated in the Alumni Association.
During his professional career, Dr. Dressel embraced technology, and was a leader and innovator. He is described as a “teacher, administrator, author, advisor and a leader in Dentistry.” The Dressel Lecture focuses on a topic related to ethics in the field of dentistry and/or public health. |
