Equity in Early Childhood Classrooms and Clinics: Building Access for All Children

Asking diverse learners to conform to one way of speaking or doing reflects a deficit thinking that hinders the language and literacy achievement of marginalized students. To counter deficit thinking, this workshop will couple culturally sensitive and inquiry-based language tools in early childhood settings. Effective clinicians and teachers are those who capitalize on children's lived experiences as children become invested in their learning.

*This workshop has an ASHA subject code of 7030: Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Education, Training, Service Delivery, and Public Policy. Fulfills ASHA DEI requirements.
