Meet the Speaker!

William (Will) Lisska, AICP, is the Regional Planning Manager for the Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (CAMPO), the regional planning agency for the six-county Austin region. Will is responsible for coordinating transportation planning among Austin-area jurisdictions for the federally mandated regional long-range transportation plan, known as the Regional Transportation Plan. Since joining CAMPO in early 2022, his focus has been the development of new plans and studies to help inform the regional long-range plan, including several partnership studies with local agencies. He is excited to collaborate on the next generation of mobility in Central Texas and help ensure a safe, efficient, and resilient transportation network.

Will holds an undergraduate degree in civil engineering from Vanderbilt University and a master’s degree in urban planning from the University of Florida. Prior to joining CAMPO, he worked for over 10 years as a traffic engineering and transportation planning consultant, providing a wide range of services for public sector clients throughout the country including long-range planning, demand modelling, traffic operations and safety analysis, conceptual design, and public outreach.

Presentation Abstract

This crash course will get you up to speed with the Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (CAMPO), including what it is/isn't, why it's important, and how it coordinates regional transportation planning and implementation. The presentation will catch you up with recently completed CAMPO work on the Regional Freight Plan, Transportation Improvement Program, and 2050 Regional Transportation Program and ongoing efforts on the Regional Safety Action Plan, Transportation Emissions Reduction Plan, Project Readiness Program, and local partnerships studies. Additionally, we will cover the process of obtaining federal implementation funding for transportation projects through CAMPO, including upcoming opportunities for funding and how to best position your agency or client for a successful grant application.
