Erika Maldonado is the Director of Communications and Hispanic Liaison for the Cook County Treasurer’s Office, where she leads efforts to inform and educate the Latino community about property taxes and treasury programs. Originally from Venezuela, Erika began her career as a television news anchor. In 2004, she joined Univision Chicago, where she worked as a reporter for a decade and contributed to national programs such as Despierta America, Primer Impacto and Noticiero Nacional. In 2014, she became the main anchor for the station's weekday newscasts, and in 2018, she took on the role of host for Al Punto Chicago, a political and community analysis program. Known for her dedication to the Latino community, Erika has been honored with 7 Emmy Awards, 29 nominations, the Studs Terkel Award, and two nominations for the prestigious Peter Lisagor Award, along with recognition from organizations like Gift of Hope and the Illinois Secretary of State’s Hispanic Media Award.
