Cultural Considerations for Supporting Survivors who Use Substances

Substance dependence is a complex and lifelong struggle that can have devastating effects for the individual and their families. Under the best of circumstances, seeking recovery assistance can be challenging, and the barriers to accessing and successfully completing treatment can seem insurmountable. For Black, Indigenous, People of Color, LGBTQIA+, and Appalachian communities, these barriers are exponentially higher. This training will examine the prevalence of substance use in these communities, the systemic barriers they face, and the cultural considerations necessary to increase treatment and recovery success in these populations.

This training is designed for advocates at all skill levels.
