Russia’s war in Ukraine has fueled corruption, enabling regime loyalists to profit through resource reallocation, money laundering, and sanctions evasion. These practices now spread globally, illustrating authoritarian learning. This seminar will explore how Putin’s elite profits from war, shifts in corruption since the invasion, global sanctions-evasion networks (e.g. Garantex), the nationalization-corruption link, and civil society’s role in resisting despite rising risks. |
