Felted Cuffs with Pleated Silk Workshop with Flóra Carlile-Kovács

August 16th, 9am-4pm

Civic Garden Club, 622 S. 2nd St, La Conner

About the Workshop

Discover the ancient art of wet felting by creating a sculptural felted cuff! In this hands-on workshop, students will work with superfine merino wool and hand-dyed silk to create a richly textured and three-dimensional form. Using only soap, water, and gentle agitation, construct a durable felted cuff with beautifully pleated silk surfaces. This relaxed, seated workshop is suitable for all levels.

About the Instructor

Flóra Carlile-Kovács (Seattle, WA) works at the intersection of traditional craftsmanship and contemporary textile design. Her art is constant experimentation and innovation, stretching the boundaries of the most ancient textile technique: felting.

In addition to her artistic practice, she is committed to education and knowledge sharing. She regularly teaches felting masterclasses both locally and internationally, provides content for international felt magazines, and annually leads felting tours to her home country of Hungary. More about Flóra Carlile-Kovács here!

A Note on Taxes

As of 10/1/2025, there is a wide range of new taxes and fees that are impacting businesses and nonprofit organizations in Washington State. As a result, our classes, workshops, and educational events are now subject to state and local taxes, and we have had to raise our registration fees. Here is a helpful article which explains more about this change and how it's affecting nonprofits in WA state.
