Preconference Activities

Tour of the Pennsylvania State Capitol

August 4, 2026 | 1:00 PM to 3:30 PM | No charge | Registration is required



Transportation to and from the Pennsylvania State Capitol will be provided for this 45-minute guided tour of "the handsomest building" President Theodore Roosevelt ever saw. The guided tour will share architectural and artistic highlights to bring the Capitol's history alive.

Conservation Cookout

August 4, 2026 | 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM | No charge | Registration is required



The State Conservation Commission's own Justin Challenger is hosting a cookout for conservation district staff, directors, and partners. Bring a chair and enjoy some fun and relaxation with your friends in conservation. Directions will be provided, there is ample space for parking, and we'll have an event tent onsite, so the fun can happen rain or shine.

Self-Guided Tour of Wildwood Park

Right down the street from the conference lies 229-acre Wildwood Park, featuring a 90-acre shallow lake, six miles of trails, and a mile of boardwalks. Visit the Benjamin Olewine Nature Center between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. for exhibits about the natural history of the park and the Susquehanna Valley area. Trails are open from dawn to dusk. Sessions and Tours

Agricultural Tour and Sessions


PACD is partnering with the State Conservation Commission to plan a Wednesday tour and Thursday sessions to highlight ag innovation and look ahead to the future of ag conservation. Thursday will also feature a a meet and greet with the new State Conservation Commission Executive Secretary.


There is no charge for the tour, but registration is required. Stay tuned for more details coming soon!
