Join Us for an Evening of Discovery and Connection with Nature!

The Lake Sammamish Urban Wildlife Refuge Partnership (UWRP) is proud to announce the launch of its

exciting and informative new event series, "Watershed Talks," with the inaugural event titled "Urban

Wildlife Coexistence."


Delve into the realm of Urban Wildlife conservation efforts with a captivating presentation by Woodland Park Zoo. Discover how their community science volunteer programs, such as the Seattle Urban Carnivore Project and the Bat Activity Trends (BAT) program, are making a significant impact on coexistence with our wildlife neighbors. Explore how you as a local resident can get involved and help with Urban Wildlife protection.

The Woodland Park Zoo highlights their Urban Wildlife conservation efforts focused on Bat Conservation and Urban Carnivore programs. Attendees will discover the program’s objectives, learn about ways to engage in these conservation efforts and how they tie into future

monitoring initiatives at Lake Sammamish State Park.

Program Schedule

5:30 pm – Doors Open: Indulge in snacks and explore informational tables set up by our partners, both

inside the venue and outside, weather permitting.


6:00 pm – Welcome and Introduction to Urban Wildlife


6:15 pm – Woodland Park Zoo Presentation: Learn about Urban Wildlife conservation efforts, with a

special focus on community science driven Bat Conservation and Urban Carnivore programs – including

ways to get involved!


7:00 pm – Wildlife & Habitat Restoration Site Walk: Led by our knowledgeable partners, embark on a

guided tour to observe local wildlife and learn about ongoing habitat restoration efforts.


8:00 pm – Wrap-up

“Urban Wildlife Coexistence” is part of our new "Watershed Talks" series, offering informal programs

that invite the community to find connection to nature, better understand their local lands, waters, fish,

and wildlife, and get inspired to care for our shared watersheds. This event is made possible by the

collaborative efforts of Lake Sammamish Urban Wildlife Refuge Partnership Organizations: Trout

Unlimited, Friends of Lake Sammamish State Park, Friends of the Issaquah Salmon Hatchery, Mountains

to Sound Greenway Trust, Three Rivers Chapter of Trout Unlimited, Issaquah Alps Trails Club, and

Washington State Parks.
