Ron James

Tenant Leader

Morelands Group

Ron James is a life-long resident of the SE side of Cleveland. Born in the Lee-Harvard Community, Ron graduated from John F. Kennedy High School. After graduating from Cleveland State University, Ron obtained his Juris Doctor (JD) from John Marshall School of Law in 1976.

Ron's career has been devoted to criminal justice and social equity. As an Associate Cuyahoga County Prosecutor, Ron worked to bring about greater social justice in the prosecutors office. Ron gives time to youth mentoring programs and has been an adjunct professor of criminal justice at Baldwin-Wallace University.

As a long-term tenant in the Shaker Square area, Ron stepped forward early in the fight for tenant justice. He is a leader in organizing tenant action groups. Ron and his neighbors found themselves trapped in a prime Shaker Square apartment building, where New York based owners have failed for two winters to supply adequate heat to residents. This property prompted the City of Cleveland to file its first Civil Nuisance Case. A leader in forming the Morelands Group, Ron is co-chair of the Tenant Engagement Committee.
