A Peek Into The Impact of Military Trauma

Presenter: Courtney Wells, LCSW

Brief Summary of Presentation: We will discuss the prevalence of mental health and substance use in our military and veteran populations. This presentation will show how many different factors contribute to trauma responses and how to help someone who might be in a crisis. Identify how transitioning during and after the military is a growing concern for the mental health of our service members.

  • Identify the history of and prevalence of behavioral health and substance use disorders associated with people who have served in the military
  • Gain insight into Grounding Techniques
  • Develop understanding of the impact of military trauma related to exposure to various factors

Bel Aire Recovery Center is pleased to offer outpatient addiction treatment to our valued clients in Oklahoma City.  Outpatient treatment for addiction recovery is a practical option for clients who are living with a substance use disorder (SUD). They can continue living at home and continue their daily activities while getting the help and support they need.

Course Interaction & System Requirements: This live in person presentation is interactive. Attendees & presenters may ask and answer questions throughout the presentation and participate in instructor-led discussions.




Course Completion and CE Information:

To earn CE credit, participants must be on time, sign in and sign out, attend the entire course and complete a course evaluation. This is a 1.5 hour course. Partial credit is not permitted. Must be present the full 1.5 hours to receive CE certificate. Certificates of completion will be emailed within 2 business days of course completion.


CE Statements:

Summit BHC, provider #2057, is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Regulatory boards are the final authority on courses accepted for continuing education credit. ACE provider approval period: 07/31/2025 - 07/31/2028. Social workers completing this course receive 1.5 clinical continuing education credits.


Summit BHC has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 7161. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. Summit BHC is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs.
