Spotlight on Local History - The Sanctuary City

In this talk, Dr. Domenic Vitiello (University of Pennsylvania) will explore the meanings of sanctuary and the history of sanctuary cities and sanctuary movements in Greater Philadelphia and North America since the 1980s, including Catholic contributions to the movement. The talk is based on Dr. Vitiello’s recent book, The Sanctuary City: Immigrant, Refugee, and Receiving Communities in Postindustrial Philadelphia (Cornell University Press, 2022).
