2026 Great Willamette Cleanup – Eugene: UO North Campus (On Land)

Event Basics: Join Willamette Riverkeeper and the University of Oregon Outdoor Program for an on-land cleanup as part of the 2026 Great Willamette Cleanup. We'll start at the Frohnmayer Footbridge and work our way along both riverbanks, cleaning up areas within the UO North Campus and the Whilamut Natural Area. These are heavily used trails, and volunteer support is necessary to remove as much trash as possible before it is washed downstream during the winter.

After the cleanup, we hope that you'll join us for a volunteer appreciation party at 1:30pm in Eugene (location TBD) featuring drinks, light food, and a free raffle for all volunteers.

When & Where: Saturday, October 10th, 2026 | 10:00am - 1:00pm

Please meet at the circular footpath on the south side of the Frohnmayer Footbridge, accessed through the North Campus Gardens and millrace area (see map to the right). Trained cleanup leaders from the UO Outdoor Program will be on site to check volunteers in, distribute cleanup supplies, and provide a group safety briefing.

What to Bring:

• Sturdy, closed-toe shoes that you are comfortable getting dirty and wet.
• Sunscreen, drinking water, and layers that are appropriate for the weather.

Additional Details:

• Willamette Riverkeeper and our partners will provide all necessary cleanup equipment and PPE for this event (trash bags, gloves, grabbers, etc).
• No previous experience is necessary to volunteer for this event – we will conduct a thorough safety briefing and cleanup training at the start of the day.
• Children ages 10+ are welcome to participate in this event if accompanied by a responsible parent or guardian.
