Beyond the Label: Navigating Personality Disorders with Clarity and Care

Training objectives:  

• Learners will be able to understand the relationship between childhood abuse/neglect and their relationship to Cluster B personality disorders. 

• Learners will be able to identify how the symptoms/behaviors associated with Cluster B disorders often manifest in clinical (SUDs) settings.

• Learners will be able to identify common countertransferential reactions to Cluster B symptoms/behaviors.  

• Learners will be understand different individual approaches to managing countertransference.

• Learners will know how to effectively identify and respond to personality symptoms/behaviors in a clinically useful and client centered way. 

• Learners will be able to understand the importance of team and systems based approaches to managing cluster B symptoms/behaviors.  


Nickolas Reguero LPC, CADC-III

Nickolas Reguero LPC CADC-III is a clinical supervisor at Central City Concern’s Blackburn Center. With over 10 years’ experience in the field, he has worked across both inpatient & outpatient settings and with a variety of clinical disciplines. He also holds the position of adjunct instructor in Portland State University’s Counselor Education program and regularly lectures on diagnosis, pharmacology, and substance use. He brings an intentional practice of authenticity, person-centeredness, and trauma informed care to all aspects of his work. Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, he enjoys spending time with his partner, drinking coffee, and loafing with his cat.
