A 30th anniversary is traditionally known as the Pearl Anniversary— a celebration of wisdom, resilience, and beauty that grows over time. We view this as a fitting symbol for our celebration, though in our case, another "pearl" comes to mind.
Hidden beneath the waters of the Willamette lives the Western Pearlshell Mussel, a species whose presence speaks to water quality and river health. Like these remarkable mussels, our greatest work often happens quietly, beneath the surface.
For 30 years, supporters like you have helped build a healthier, more resilient Willamette—one restoration project, one paddle trip, one volunteer event, one protected river mile at a time. Western Pearlshell mussels can live more than 100 years. We aim to follow their example. Together, we are cultivating a legacy of river health and community that will endure for generations. |
