When They Can't Shake It Off: Practical Approach to Status Epilepticus and Cluster Seizures in Dogs

What do you do when a dog’s seizures will not stop? Status epilepticus in dogs (continuous seizure activity of >5 minutes or >2 generalized seizures without recovery of consciousness) is one of the most challenging neurological emergencies veterinarians encounter. Recent advances in our understanding of the mechanisms underlying prolonged seizure activity have challenged traditional approaches and reshaped treatment protocols. This practical talk will discuss how to prevent and treat cluster seizures and status epilepticus in dogs.
