The Importance of Screening for Prenatal Alcohol Exposure

Presented in collaboration by The Florida Center and Proof Alliance, this webinar will explore the impact of prenatal alcohol exposure on child development, learning, and behavior. Designed for healthcare professionals, nurses, public health workers, health educators, social workers, community health workers, doulas, and anyone providing prenatal care, the training highlights the importance of screening and documentation to guide effective support. It includes practical examples, questions, and protocols to help connect families with appropriate resources and services.

The presentation will provide concrete examples, questions, recommendations, and protocols to connect families to appropriate supports and education for those children exposed prenatally to alcohol and other substances.

2. Explore ways to ask and/or screen clients for prenatal alcohol exposure.

This presentation is for social workers, medical providers, welfare professionals, educators, school personnel, mental health counselors, law enforcement officers, and other professionals working with children anywhere in the world.


CE Information: 2.00 CEs ($10) for Florida Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Licensed Mental Health Counselor, and Certified Master Social Worker through CEBroker. Certificates will be provided.

Tamra Cajo, LCSW

Statewide Director of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD) Services


Tamra Cajo, LCSW is a bilingual, licensed clinical social worker with almost 20 years of experience working in early childhood and prevention. Tamra serves on the Executive Council of FASD United and as a Board Member for FASCETS. Tamra is a certified facilitator in the FASCETS Neurobehavioral Model, TBRI Practitioner, and was the previous lead trainer in the Midwest for ACT Raising Safe Kids, an evidence-based violence prevention curriculum. In addition, Tamra has been trained in a number of other evidence-based curriculums including Circle of Security Parenting, Families Moving Forward (FMF), Helping the Non-Compliant Child, Chicago Parenting Program, and Youth Mental Health First Aid. 

Kendra Gludt, MPH

Director of National Programs at Proof Alliance


Kendra Gludt has a master's degree in public health. She oversees the development and implementation of programs that expand FASD screening, building diagnostic capacity, and provide professional education. In her many years of working on FASD, she has helped create practice change within various systems and healthcare settings. Kendra is also Co-PI of the SAFEST Choice National Learning Collaborative, a HRSA-funded virtual education program for healthcare professionals that aims to reduce prenatal alcohol exposure and improve outcomes for children with FASD.
