| Event Basics: Whether you're a beginner paddleboarder or a seasoned whitewater SUP veteran, we encourage you to join for the Willamette River Festival's first ever stand-up paddleboard slalom race. Competitors will race through a marked course in the flatwater area near the River House Beach. This race will be run using a mass start, making for thrills, spills, and enjoyable competition. Competitors can bring their own paddleboards or borrow one from the River House fleet.
When and Where: Competitors should arrive at the River House Beach at 12:45pm to stage their paddleboards and sign in with race organizers. Those who are borrowing a SUP will be assigned equipment when signing in. Competition boats can be unloaded in the River House driveway before parking at the nearby School District 4J parking lot.
We will aim to launch the race at 1:00pm. Depending on the number of competitors, we may run the competition in several waves.
What to Bring:
- Stand-up paddleboard (both inflatables and hardboards welcome)
- SUP paddle
- PFD / life jacket
- Whitewater river helmet
- Participants can bring their own equipment or borrow equipment from the River House Outdoor Center (including PFD and helmet).
Additional Details:
- All participants will by required to sign a Eugene Rec event liability waiver when signing in at race headquarters.
- Prizes will be awarded to the winners of the race. The award ceremony will take place at the festival main stage at 6pm.
- All participants will receive a raffle ticket entering them in a drawing for a plethora of prizes donated by boating companies and local businesses! Raffle drawings will take place at the festival main stage after the award ceremony.
