ANTHONY ANZALONE, PsyD
Dr. Anthony Anzalone is a licensed clinical psychologist and clinical assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health at Stony Brook School of Medicine. He obtained his PsyD at Long Island University, C.W. Post Campus. He brings over two decades of clinical experience to Stony Brook, starting off his career working at a residential facility for five years helping children with various behavioral and emotional disorders. Following this, he worked in private practice, where he formed a partnership with colleges that specialized in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for individuals with anxiety disorders.
Dr. Anzalone is an active member of the community, frequently presenting on topics such as procrastination, anxiety, and healthy digital media use. He has also delivered professional presentations on the effectiveness of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for anxiety disorders. In addition to his public engagement, Dr. Anzalone has extensive experience in clinical supervision, having led intern case conferences, facilitated peer supervision meetings, and served on clinical proficiency review panels for graduate students.
Upon joining the faculty at Stony Brook in 2020, Dr. Anzalone has been involved in the supervision of interns, residents, and fellows in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Additionally, he has been trained in the Incredible Years Parenting Program and currently runs groups to help parents promote social, emotional, and academic competence in their children and generate flexible problem-solving skills. In 2024 he was appointed to become the Director of Behavioral Health for the Child and Adolescent Outpatient Department of Psychiatry. He was recently recognized by Stony Brook for excellence in teaching.
Dr. Anzalone also works with individuals with problematic electronic media usage and has developed and ran a parenting group focused on raising children to have healthy screen use habits. His has been interviewed on the subject by major news organizations such as Newsday, Newsmax, Healthline and various radio outlets. He regularly provides lectures on the topic to school and community groups and was featured on ABC’s “Protecting Our Children.” He was most recently interviewed on WLIW radio for his work on the topic. |
