We are thrilled to announce that CFA Society Winnipeg has sold out our 60th Annual Forecast Dinner and New Charterholder presentation at the RBC Convention Centre on Tuesday, April 15, 2025.

This year’s premier event promises to be another memorable experience, featuring keynote speaker Andrew Busch, Economic Futurist.

We are also excited to have Lesley Marks, CIO, Equities, Mackenzie Investments, as our Master of Ceremonies, and Marg Franklin, CEO, CFA Institute as a guest speaker.

The event will begin with complimentary wine and hors d'oeuvres (including a cash bar) at the cocktail reception sponsored by Infinite Investment Systems Ltd. from 5:00pm-6:00pm. The evening's formal events will begin at 6:00pm and will include hearing from our presenting speakers, introducing Winnipeg's newest CFA Charterholders and announcing the Forecaster of the Year awards.

KEYNOTE SPEAKER

Andrew Busch

Economic futurist

Andrew Busch is the former 1st Chief Market Intelligence Officer for the US government and economic futurist at AndrewBusch.com. For the CFTC, he was charged with improving and enhancing the government’s understanding of the markets and the economy. His job was to take all the news, information and data on the economy and markets; and filter it into condensed, easily understood research; then communicate it to the government and public.  


Andy provided economic and market briefings to White House, US House, US Senate, the SEC, the Federal Reserve Board and the US Treasury staff on a wide range of issues including interest rates, inflation, China’s influence on trade, and the impact of technology on the economy. 


Prior to joining the CFTC, Mr. Busch was CEO and founder of a boutique financial markets and policy research firm, Bering Productions, Inc (BPI). Before BPI, he was the Global Currency and Public Policy Strategist for Bank of Montreal (BMO) in Chicago. He is author of the book “World Event Trading” covering large crises, like infectious disease outbreaks and war, and their impact on the economy and markets. 


Today, he’s a consultant and keynote speaker with a wide range of clients including technology, financial services, energy, real estate, manufacturing, construction and agriculture.

Lesley Marks is the Chief Investment Officer (CIO) of Equities for Mackenzie Investments. She oversees approximately 90 investment professionals and $95 billion across the firm’s 11 equity boutiques.

 

Lesley is a seasoned investment leader with more than 30 years of experience across asset and wealth management. Prior to joining Mackenzie, Lesley had an extensive successful track record as a portfolio manager of Canadian equity portfolios.


Lesley is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Queen’s University and an MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business. She is currently Chair of the Crescent School Foundation board, sits on the advisory board of the Institute for Sustainable Finance and is a member of the Finance and Risk Committee for Kids Help Phone.

Margaret Franklin, CFA

President and CEO,

CFA Institute

Margaret Franklin, CFA, leads CFA Institute and its more than 200,000 members worldwide in promoting the highest standards of education, ethics, and professional excellence in the investment profession. She assumed her role in September 2019 and has more than 25 years of investment and wealth management experience.


Before joining CFA Institute, Ms. Franklin led International Wealth Management for North America and was president of BNY Mellon Wealth Management, Advisory Services in Canada. She is a founding member of the CFA Institute Women in Investment Initiative and sits on its Future of Finance content council. Margaret holds a bachelor’s degree in administration in economics from McMaster University, Ontario.
