2025 GWCU Springfield: Clearwater Park to Aspen Street (On Water - Bring Your Own Boat!)

On October 4th, volunteers across Oregon will unite for the Great Willamette Cleanup, with sites stretching from the river’s headwaters to its confluence with the Columbia. Pick the spot closest to your heart and Get Dirty for Good alongside neighbors, families, and fellow river lovers. Every bag of trash collected and every shoreline restored adds to a healthier, more resilient Willamette River.

WHAT: Join Willamette Riverkeeper and the Willamette Kayak & Canoe Club to Get Dirty for Good with a paddling cleanup effort from Clearwater Park to Aspen Street boat ramp. This is a "bring your own boat" event - so if you aren't planning on paddling your own boat, and know a friend with a tandem kayak, canoe, drift boat or raft, hop in with them! PFDs required! Afterwards, please join us for a volunteer appreciation party at Alton Baker Park (Eugene) at 1:30pm in the main event shelter.

WHEN & WHERE: Saturday, October 4, 2025 | 9:00AM - 12:30PM

Meet at the Clearwater Park boat landing at 9AM - PLEASE BE SELF SHUTTLED AND READY TO LAUNCH!

DETAILS: Please be on time! We will aim to get on the water by 9:30AM, beginning with a safety briefing and clean up plan before heading out. Please dress for the weather (and the water!), bring water, and wear sturdy closed-toe shoes. Willamette Riverkeeper will provide trash bags, gloves, and trash grabbers. PFDs are required and must be worn at all times on the river to participate in this event. Minors 12-17 are also welcome to join this event if they will be accompanied by an adult in their boat who is responsible for the minor and is authorized to sign their participation waiver.

Please be proficient paddling in moving water for this event and always be aware of high water currents.
