This class removes the mystery of longarm quilting by explaining machine and frame elements and features, how to load a quilt, and vital facts about thread, needles, and tension. Handi Quilter long arm machine and frame systems come in various sizes for every budget and are user-friendly because they are designed by a quilter, for quilters – just like you!

Creatively Customize your Quilts

Blocks, backgrounds, sashings and borders are the basic components of many pieced quilt tops, and there are tricks to quilting them with a cohesive overall look, while creating your own personal style, Learn how to select and adapt designs to complement each area, and how to accomplish the quilting efficiently and easily. Tried-and-true fillers and “go-to” designs will be featured.

Day 2

Start on the Right Foot

Have you ever wanted to break away from you basic quilting and really see what your longarm can do? You piece, quilt on unique fabric; apply binding to your quilts; and many other great time saving techniques on your longarm. Find out what your long arm can really do and get ready to get more projects done.

Come to this workshop to explore how to create a quilting plan. We’ll look at ways to define the purpose and style of the quilt, build a theme, and choose threads to compliment the piecing of the quilt.

Stumped by what to quilt in all that negative space? This workshop explores how to fill the space with embedded designs, use easy marking techniques, and balance shape, size and density to provide movement and order on your next modern quilting project.
