Tucked away next to the confluence of the Tualatin River and Willamette River, the Willamette Wetlands is West Linn's largest remaining wetland. Home to over 130 bird species, including Osprey, Great Egret, Belted Kingfisher, and Great Blue Heron, along with a thriving beaver population, river otters and more. Join Friends of Willamette Wetlands on a free bird walk, where we'll help you spot some of the inhabitants of this special place and share the current threats facing this urban wetland.

Tucked away next to the confluence of the Tualatin River and Willamette River, the Willamette Wetlands is West Linn's largest remaining wetland. Home to over 130 bird species, including Osprey, Great Egret, Belted Kingfisher, and Great Blue Heron, along with a thriving beaver population, river otters and more. Join Friends of Willamette Wetlands on a free bird walk, where we'll help you spot some of the inhabitants of this special place and share the current threats facing this urban wetland. 


Parking: Carpooling is highly encouraged! Depending on the level of interest for this event, attendees may need to park by the Willamette Park & Bernert Landing Boat Ramp and take a mostly flat, half mile walk down Volpp Street to 4th Street. For those with more limited mobility, some street parking is available along 5th Avenue near the intersection of 4th Street in West Linn. Please be mindful not to block driveways or mailboxes when parking in the surrounding neighborhood.


Where to Meet: We will start by the info booth & picnic table on 4th Street and venture out along the streets bordering the wetlands to identify a wide variety of birds. Google Maps / Apple Maps


What to Bring: Please consider bringing binoculars, water, and clothing for the weather (check the forecast). Most importantly, bring your enthusiasm for wetlands and identifying wildlife!
