This four-part Learning Circle will focus on ocean conservation and will be organized and co-facilitated by Elizabeth Stephenson, director of the Marine Conservation Action Fund at the New England Aquarium, and Jason Donofrio with the Climate Strong Islands Network, in partnership with the Network of Engaged International Donors. Over a series of four sessions, learn from local practitioners as they discuss climate resilience, blue carbon, the marine economy, and more. The Learning Circle model is built around education, creating a space for philanthropists and foundations to connect with local leaders, learn how to give in the most impactful ways, and support local communities who cultivate programs that foster climate resilience, food security, and sustainable livelihoods while also advancing equity and justice. While the co-facilitators will be available to make introductions to potential grantees, there will be no formal expectation to give or cost to participate.

The Ocean Learning Circle will be convening virtually on Zoom over four 90-minute sessions on the following dates:

  • Thursday, September 19 from 3:00 p.m.–4:30 p.m. EST
  • Thursday, October 3 from 3:00 p.m.–4:30 p.m. EST
  • Thursday, October 24 from 3:00 p.m.–4:30 p.m. EST
  • Thursday, November 14 from 3:00 p.m.–4:30 p.m. EST

Please contact Elizabeth Stephenson at estephenson@neaq.org with question or for more information. A detailed agenda will be emailed to participants ahead of each session.
