2026 Great Willamette Cleanup – Corvallis: Avery Park (On Land)

On October 10th, volunteers across Oregon will unite for the Great Willamette Cleanup, with sites stretching from the river’s headwaters to its confluence with the Columbia. Pick the spot closest to your heart and Get Dirty for Good alongside neighbors, families, and fellow river lovers. Every bag of trash collected and every shoreline restored adds to a healthier, more resilient Willamette River.

Event Basics: Join Willamette Riverkeeper and Corvallis Parks & Recreation for an on-land cleanup along the Marys River! We'll start at Avery Park and work our way along the riverside path as time allows. The Marys River is a direct tributary of the Willamette River, and it is critically important to remove as much trash as possible before water levels rise in the winter and move this pollution downstream.

After the cleanup, we hope that you'll join us for a volunteer appreciation party at 1:30pm in Corvallis (location TBD) featuring drinks, light food, and a free raffle for all volunteers.

When & Where: Saturday, October 10th, 2026 | 10:00am - 1:00pm

Please meet in Avery Park at the parking area adjacent to the rose garden (see map below). We'll have trained cleanup leaders on site to check volunteers in, distribute cleanup supplies, and provide a group safety briefing.

What to Bring:

  • Sturdy, closed-toe shoes that you are comfortable getting dirty and wet.
  • Sunscreen, drinking water, and layers that are appropriate for the weather.

Additional Details:

  • Willamette Riverkeeper and our partners will provide all necessary cleanup equipment and PPE for this event (trash bags, gloves, grabbers, etc).
  • No previous experience is necessary to volunteer for this event – we will conduct a thorough safety briefing and cleanup training at the start of the day.
  • Children ages 10+ are welcome to participate in this event if accompanied by a responsible parent or guardian.
