Are you struggling to get customers to your Genealogy programs?

Do you have so much interest that you have to turn people away?

If you are in either of these boats, join us August 21st at 10:30 am for the NEFLIN Genealogy Interest Group. We will discuss what types of programs and services customers seem to want and how to best promote them. Come ready to share your successes, struggles, ideas and limitations for promoting to your customers.

Interest Group Facilitator: Kristi Dorney

Kristi has a BS in Social Studies Education and a MLIS from Florida State University. She worked in public school media centers before joining the Jacksonville Public Library in July 2000. She has a background in youth services, adult services and branch management. She transferred to the Special Collections Department in August 2022 to be the Genealogy specialist. Kristi is a member of the National Genealogical Society, New England Historic Genealogical Society, Florida Genealogical Society, and The Irish Ancestral Research Association (TIARA). She began her family tree in the mid 1980’s when she and her mother visited the University of Florida Library to view the 1850 census of her Great-Great Grandparents. She has worked on it off and on ever since and still has those darn brick walls! Kristi has traveled to several states and Ireland to work on her family tree. One day she hopes to visit the Family History Library in Salt Lake City. She enjoys helping others begin researching their family trees.

This project was funded either under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act from the Institute of Museum and Library Services or the Library Cooperative Grant program. Florida’s LSTA and LCG programs are administered by the Department of State’s Division of Library and Information Services.

For FY2023-24, the total state and federal budgets for NEFLIN's programs are $694,693. 42% of the total costs ($294,693) are supported by federal funds, and 58% of this program ($400,000) is supported by state funds.
