David Allen, CFA, is the Chair of the Board of the CFA Society of New York. He is also Managing Director at Octane Investments, a firm he founded to invest in traditional energy companies. Prior to this, he served large institutions at Schroders and served in a similar position at AB, for nearly a decade at each of those firms. He also has founded and ran two FinTech startups and he traded FX in the 1990s. He earned a bachelor’s degree at the University of Pennsylvania in Economics and completed the Value Investing executive education curriculum at Columbia University. Allen is Chair of the NY Society’s Programming Committee, and recently passed the CFA Institute’s ESG certification.
Abe Lang is the manager of strategy and risk at NiSource. He is responsible for generation resource planning for NiSource’s electric business in Indiana, including leading the development of the company’s Integrated Resource Plan (IRP), facilitating portfolio modeling and analysis, and driving strategic decisions for the company’s generation resources.
Abe has been with NiSource since September 2020 and previously served as the Enterprise Risk Manager for NiSource advancing the maturity of the Enterprise Risk and Credit Risk functions.
Abe previously worked at Exelon (Constellation), where he served in several finance and enterprise risk roles, focusing primarily on the merchant generation business.
Abe has a degree in Finance from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
John Tysseland, Co-Portfolio Manager and Principal, for EIP. John joined EIP in 2014 and is responsible for investment decisions for EIP’s funds. From 2005-2014, he was Managing Director at Citigroup Global Markets, responsible for equity research coverage of midstream energy companies. From 1998-2005 he worked at Raymond James & Associates as a Vice President, conducting equity research in the oilfield service industry and establishing the initial coverage of MLPs. John traded equities from 1997-1998 and was an Assistant Executive Director at Sumar Enterprises from 1996-1997. He graduated with BA in Economics from University of Texas at Austin.
