9-10-25 - High Impact Tax Strategies

Join the Financial Planning Association of San Francisco on Wednesday, September 10th at 3 pm on "High Impact Tax Strategies," an event designed to give financial planners actionable strategies for maximizing client tax savings and financial outcomes.

The session will include a panel of experts covering advanced topics like Qualified Small Business Stock, non-qualified deferred compensation, and hybrid defined benefit-defined contribution retirement plans. The panel will be moderated by our past chapter president, Michael Ma.

Panelists:

Christopher Karachale, Hanson Bridgett (QSBS)

Christopher is a nationally recognized tax attorney with Hanson Bridgett who advises individuals and businesses on federal, state, local, and international tax matters. He is well known for his thought leadership in Qualified Small Business Stock (QSBS) and Section 1202 issues—a topic on which he has been quoted in The New York Times, Bloomberg, and Business Insider.

Tommy McCollister, Armanino Advisory (non-qualified deferred comp)

Tommy is an expert in compensation and benefits tax planning, with deep experience advising clients on complex topics such as equity-based compensation, deferred compensation, and Qualified Small Business Stock. He serves as a Senior Manager at Armanino Advisory where he works with clients ranging from startups to large corporations.

Patrick Collar, Nicholas Pension Consultants (hybrid defined benefit and defined contribution plans)

Patrick is a Partner at Nicholas Pension Consultants, a third-party administration service provider for 401(k), 403(b), and Profit Sharing plans, as well as actuarial services for Defined Benefit and Cash Balance Plans. His focus is on maximizing retirement contributions, generating tax-efficient outcomes, and helping employers create impactful benefits.
