2024 Luncheon for Literacy

Join us for inspiration and fellowship, and to make a difference in this community! Cape Fear Literacy Council’s annual Luncheon for Literacy helps to raise awareness of our region’s evolving education needs and provides crucial support for adult learners. The event features testimonials from students and volunteers, a Readers’ Theater performance, and a keynote presentation. Proceeds from this fundraiser benefit the Council’s literacy and language programs, keeping them free for our students.

Special Guest Speaker: JASON MOTT


Guests will enjoy a keynote presentation by New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Jason Mott, whose fourth novel “Hell of a Book” won the National Book Award for Fiction.


A poet and novelist, Jason holds a BFA and MFA from UNC Wilmington, where he is an associate professor of creative writing. His works also include “The Returned” (adapted for television as "Resurrection"). A 2024 NEA Creative Writing Fellow, Mott uses insightful storytelling to explore the human condition with depth and beauty.


A North Carolina native from the town of Bolton, Jason will be on hand to sign copies of his books, including “The Returned” and “Hell Of A Book,” immediately following the event. Books sold by Pomegranate Books.
