Why this workshop

Housing demand across the Fox Cities continues to outpace supply, and the rules that shape where and how housing gets built vary widely from one community to the next. Recent Wisconsin legislation is also reshaping what local governments can — and must — do around residential development.

This morning working session brings together the people who make housing happen: developers, builders, municipal staff, planners, and elected officials. The goal is simple — leave with a clearer picture of how your community compares, what's changing at the state level, and stronger working relationships with the colleagues you'll see on the next project.

What we'll cover

Benchmark your community. See how Fox Cities municipalities compare on zoning and development requirements, with case studies highlighting practices that support housing production. We'll share results from the recent zoning and development process questionnaires and walk through what the data tells us about where requirements help — and where they slow projects down.

Get ahead of new state law. Understand recent Wisconsin legislation affecting local planning and residential development, and the opportunities it opens for Fox Cities communities. We'll cover what's already in effect, what's coming, and what local governments should be thinking about now.

Build the relationships that get projects done. Dedicated time to connect with the developers, planners, and officials you'll work with on the next project. Housing production is a shared effort, and stronger working relationships make every project easier.
