Lindsey Sin, Secretary, CalVet



Lindsey Sin was appointed as Secretary of CalVet by Governor Gavin Newsom on May 26, 2023. She has served in several roles at CalVet since 2011, including Deputy Secretary of Communications and Deputy Secretary of Women Veterans Affairs. Sin is the first woman to serve as Secretary of CalVet since the appointment of Virginia Mae Days as Director in 1975.

After graduating from high school in her hometown of Sacramento, Lindsey enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served from 1997 until 2005 as a Cryptologic Technician Interpretive in the Arabic language. She completed two flight tours in Rota, Spain during which time she deployed in support of Operations Northern Watch, Southern Watch, Enduring Freedom, and Iraqi Freedom, and achieved the rank of Petty Officer First Class with Naval Aviation and Naval Aircrew designations.

After separating from the Navy, Lindsey returned to Sacramento and worked as the Lead Certifying Official for veterans services at American River College. She continued her work with veterans at Sacramento State as the Veterans Benefit Advisor and Certifying Official, focusing on developing programs for student veterans. Lindsey has a BA in History, Magna Cum Laude, from Sacramento State and an MBA from Drexel University. She resides in Sacramento with her husband and two children.

Alexis Moore-Bennett, Analyst II, CalVet



Alexis Moore-Bennett is an Analyst II at the California Department of Veterans Affairs (CalVet), where she has served since August 2024. In this role, Alexis is deeply committed to advocating for California’s veterans by connecting them with essential benefits, services, and community-based resources that support their successful reintegration into civilian life. Her work focuses on ensuring equitable access to state and federal programs for all veterans, especially those from underrepresented and underserved communities.

Outside of her professional role, Alexis is currently pursuing her Juris Doctor degree part-time, with the goal of becoming a criminal defense attorney. Her legal studies, grounded in criminal justice, reflect her long-term mission to advocate for veterans on a broader and more impactful scale. She brings this growing legal knowledge into her current work by approaching veteran advocacy through both a policy and legal lens, helping to identify gaps in service, understand systemic barriers, and work toward more just outcomes for those who have served.

Alexis’s dedication to veterans' issues is also deeply personal. She comes from a proud military family and is surrounded by close friends who have served in the Armed Forces. These connections have shaped her understanding of the unique challenges veterans face and continue to inspire her commitment to public service.

Sean Campbell, CalTAP Training Coordinator, CalVet



Sean Campbell holds a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and a Master’s degree in Adult Education. Sean is an eight-year U.S. Navy veteran, Green-Side Hospital Corpsman, who earned both an Expeditionary Medal and a Combat Ribbon. He currently works with the California Transition Assistance Program (CalTAP) and serves as a Weapons Coach in the California State Guard.
