Course Summary: This is a class for novice and experienced gun owners alike who want to purchase their first AR (or an additional AR) and would like to know more about how to select the right make and model, plus tips for outfitting the rifle with appropriate accessories.
Prerequisites: None. This is a classroom course and no particular skills are needed.
Course Length/Hours: 3 Hours: Noon - 3:00 p.m.
Topics Covered:
- Definition and origins of the popular AR-15 rifle
- Common uses for this platform, including hunting, competition, and defense
- Caliber options with pros and cons of each, including .223, 300 Blackout, 7.62, and others
- Gas systems and how to choose one over the other (rifle, mid, carbine, and pistol)
- Brands available and what you're getting for your money, including high, mid, and low-end options
- Buying vs. building - cost benefit of each and whether it's worth it
Gear Requirements:
- Notebook and pen if you want to take notes
- You're free to take photos if you wish
Classroom & Range Information: This course will be conducted in a comfortable room with chairs and tables. Examples of the ARs and accessories discussed will be available for examination. If you have specific questions, you will have an opportunity to ask during this class.
Course Tuition: $35 per person.
