They said "Field work is easy—all you need is your dog and a whistle". Yeah right… But you know, you *did* get hooked on it. Fido has been doing great, and s/he is clearly having a lot of fun (sometimes maybe too much) getting those chicken back to Mom or Dad.
So… maybe it's time to enter a junior hunt test?!?!? Those orange ribbons do look nice, don't they?
But how does it actually *work*? What are the mechanics of a test? What can I do and what can I not do? What are the judges looking for? How do I make sure I'm not screwing things up?
That's what this mock junior hunt test is all about.
We'll set up a typical JH test, including judges, and walk you through the mechanics. The judges will make sure you know how to get to the line, set up your dog, signal for the bird, release your dog, and — hopefully — receive the retrieved bird. They'll share tips and tricks to make sure you can be as successful as possible.
What we won't have are actual live flyers. Sorry. |
