ATW: Increasing Student Engagement (Via Zoom)

How can you get students to participate more and learn more in a way that sticks? Discovery-based teaching helps students learn in ways that stick. With teacher guidance, students look at examples, notice the patterns, figure out the rules, then try using what they've found. This keeps the teacher talking less and the students learning more. Workshop participants will come away with practical ways to bring discovery-based learning to their classrooms.

Instructor: Linda Bonder has been teaching English to adult learners for over 10 years and is currently the president of Beaverton Literacy Council. She enjoys teaching all levels and working to figure out each student’s learning needs. Her teaching is informed by decades of studying and using other languages. Linda has an MA TESOL from Portland State University.

PLEASE NOTE: Registration closes 50 hours in advance for online events. This is an online class. Participants need to have a computer and a WiFi connection. The Zoom Link will be provided to you via email by the instructor approximately 48 hours in advance of this event.

7-13 days before the course date: 50% refund (materials have already been ordered/sent).
Within 6 days of the course date or no-show: No refund.
PLC-initiated cancellations: Full refund.
