DESCRIPTION:

When couples haven’t had sex in a long time they often feel hopeless and therapists often

feel unsure how to help them. This presentation will explore how to shift couples from a state of sexual disconnection to a process of sexual discovery.



We will discuss how to understand common dynamics and identify and transform sexual narratives that contribute to sexual avoidance. This includes how to conduct a culturally sensitive relational sexual history to develop sexual counter-narratives that enhance sexual connection.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

Based on the content of this course, participants will be able to:

1. Identify dynamic factors that contribute to sexual avoidance in couples.

2. Conduct a culturally sensitive relational sexual history to transform negative sexual narratives.

PCPG is approved by the California Psychological Association to provide continuing professional education for psychologists. PCPG maintains responsibility for this program and its content.

Suzanne Iasenza, Ph.D., is on the faculties of the Adelphi University Derner Institute’s

Postgraduate Program in Psychoanalysis and the Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy (ICP),

where she is Co-Founder of the Sex Therapy Training Program (STP). She also teaches at the

Ackerman Institute for the Family, the Westchester Center for the Study of Psychoanalysis and

Psychotherapy, and the Family Institute of Westchester. She maintains a private practice in

psychotherapy and sex therapy in New York. Her latest book, Transforming Sexual Narratives: A

Relational Approach to Sex Therapy, recently received an award for exceptional merit from the

Society for Sex Therapy and Research.

PRICING INFORMATION:

Early registration prices range from $20 for Students/Pre-Licensed individuals to $70 for General Public. Prices increase $5 - $10 after March 31, 2025.

CANCELLATION / REFUND POLICY:

Registrants who cancel prior to April 19th will receive a refund minus a $15 administrative charge.

No refunds will be allowed after April 19th. Transfer of registrations is not allowed.
