| This 3-day course is designed to educate the Law Enforcement Officer, Detective, or Civilian Police Legal employee, regarding the preparation, submission, and execution of Risk Protection Orders (RPO). The course will provide an understanding as to the RPO’s origin, as it relates to mass casualty incidents, explain the criteria to obtain the order, as well as the procedures following approval by the courts. The attendee will learn to investigate the incident, and the individual, in order to build their case prior to petitioning the courts for the RPO. The course will also cover the proper serving of the order, to include searching the respondent’s residence and/or conveyance, obtaining a search warrant when necessary, and the application of specialized units to assist.
