| The Southwest Georgia Housing Task Force hosted its 26th Annual Housing Conference on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at the Historic Camilla Depot. Centered around the theme “Housing Solutions: Meeting Today’s Challenges, Moving Communities Forward,” the conference brought together approximately 80 registered attendees representing local governments, housing authorities, nonprofit organizations, developers, lenders, and state and federal agencies from across Southwest Georgia and beyond.
Throughout the day, participants heard from a diverse group of speakers on topics including housing policy and advocacy, Georgia Department of Community Affairs programs, the Community HOME Investment Program (CHIP), zoning and land banks, workforce development, housing trust funds, and USDA Rural Development financing opportunities. Keynote speaker Alan Durham highlighted the connection between housing and economic development and emphasized the importance of collaboration in building stronger communities. The conference also provided valuable networking opportunities and practical tools to help communities expand access to safe, quality, and affordable housing throughout the region.
The Southwest Georgia Housing Task Force extends its sincere appreciation to this year’s sponsors—Georgia ACT, PPM Consultants, and Family Bank—as well as to all speakers, attendees, and partners who contributed to another successful and informative event dedicated to advancing housing solutions in Southwest Georgia. |
